The anniversary shirt of 2000 was conceived as the opening chapter of the club's long build-up to its centenary. Rather than reinventing the kit, adidas took the familiar royal blue and added a single gold element — a wreath around the crest — which turned an ordinary league shirt into a collector's piece almost immediately.

The background

By the turn of the millennium the club was already planning how to mark a hundred years of football in Gothenburg. The 2000 shirt was the first visible step.
