Home Shirt 2020/21
The design
For the 2020/21 season, Bayer 04 Leverkusen adopted a dark, minimalist aesthetic. The shirt is almost entirely black, subtly decorated with thin vertical pinstripes designed to represent the individual players of the Bundesliga squad. This dark base is contrasted with classic red details on both the collar and the sleeve cuffs.
The details
To complement the monochromatic design, the traditional club crest is presented in a simplified black and white colorway. Customized elements are printed throughout the jersey, including "Werkself" on the back of the neck, "Bayer 04" on the inner collar, and the city name "Leverkusen" detailed on the sleeve hems. Performance updates include an increased blend of elastane in the sleeves to allow the players greater upper-body mobility.
The launch
The uniform was developed by German brand JAKO in partnership with club advisory board member and former player Stefan Kießling, alongside the players' committee. It was released on June 27, 2020, and debuted on the pitch that same day during the final home match of the Bundesliga season, before being used again for the DFB Cup final on July 4.
