The design
The jersey features a heathered grey front panel modeled after the concrete architecture of the Volksparkstadion. Solid grey sleeves are used to reference the stadium's steel structures and surrounding security fences. The collar and cuffs are styled in blue and white, which replicates the pattern of the colored seating inside the club's home ground.
The story
Created in partnership with the club's fan culture department, the design is intended as a tribute to the stadium and the supporters who fill it. Released under the banner '#ReadyForTheStands' during a period of restricted stadium attendance, the kit's aesthetic was also translated into a new graffiti mural painted in the Nordtribüne staircase by local fan artists.
The launch
The kit was launched on October 20, 2020. Upon release, it was made available exclusively through the club's official online shop and their four physical retail stores in Hamburg.
