Italy Away Shirt 2005/06
The design
Created in collaboration with designer Neil Barrett, this shirt prioritizes clean lines and slim tailoring to project an elegant, understated aesthetic. Its most striking design feature is a deep white v-neck collar that opens to reveal a contrasting blue underlay, subtly incorporating Italy's signature color into the clean white base.
The details
The jersey debuted a highly technical woven rip-stop fabric engineered in partnership with Toray Textiles and Manchester Metropolitan University. Designed to optimize on-pitch comfort, the material provides advanced moisture management and restricted horizontal stretch to prevent opponents from grabbing and pulling the shirt.
The launch
Released in late 2005 under the marketing campaign 'Italians Look Better', the away kit set the tone for the national team's visual identity ahead of the 2006 World Cup cycle, serving as a stylistic preview of the subsequent home shirt design.
