The design
The home strip for the 2018/19 campaign modernises the club's traditional look by introducing narrower vertical stripes than those seen in previous years. Puma took direct inspiration from retro Magpies jerseys to craft a balanced, clean aesthetic.
The details
As a historical tribute, the player names and numbers on the back are printed in a traditional red font. The overall look of the uniform is rounded out with clean white socks and classic black shorts.
The launch
Part of Puma's 'Beat of the City' marketing push, the jersey's unveiling was accompanied by a short film called #BeatOfNewcastle. The promotional video stars BAFTA award-winning actor Kema Kay reciting a poem written by lifelong supporter Paddy McCann as he makes his way through the city toward St. James' Park.
