The story
Before Newcastle United's travel to the Amex Stadium in August 2022, the Premier League ruled that all three of Newcastle's official 2022/23 kits—the black-and-white home, the navy away, and the white third kit—clashed too closely with Brighton's blue-and-white stripes. To resolve the issue, the club received special dispensation to wear their pre-match warm-up top as an emergency one-off match kit, paired with black shorts and socks.
