The story
This alternative shirt is a deep dive into local heritage, celebrating Genoa's maritime history. The design pays tribute to the historic robust blue fabric produced at the ancient port of Genoa—initially used for ship sails and later adopted for durable sailors' work trousers. This textile, known historically as "bleu de Gênes", became the ancestor of modern denim and blue jeans.
The design
The kit is defined by its rich denim blue colorway, paired with golden contrast stitching to mimic the construction of traditional workwear. A classic polo collar with a three-button placket adds a touch of casual elegance. Despite the unorthodox base fabric inspiration, the club's traditional identity remains present through the iconic blue, white, red, and black bands decorating the sleeve cuffs and lower hem.
The details
The chest features a white silicone Macron Hero alongside the club's historic crest on the left, with the traditional Shield of Saint George positioned centrally below them. The phrase "BLU DI GENOVA" is printed in clean white script across the back of the neck. Inside the collar, a bespoke label splits its graphic background between the blucerchiato bands and a design element from the club's away shirt, marked with the phrase "Designed in Bologna" to guarantee its design origins.
